DIY record label bringing you girl punk, queer punk, pop punk, & indie pop

April 23, 2014 12:22 pm

This tape will officially be out on May 1! It’ll be up for sale here, and I’ll post a download of it here (where you can also download all of the other puzzle pieces releases). The band will have a bunch of copies when they hit the road with Potty Mouth. There will be a number of other distros with copies as well (more on that later). I’ll also be doing a sale package where you can get all four of the in-print puzzle pieces releases for $20.

fleabitema:

We are really excited to announce that Puzzle Pieces Records is going to be putting out our first tape this Spring, just in time for us to hit the road.
We just put all 6 tracks up on our bandcamp. We recorded this ourselves last year at WTBU and had it mastered by Will over at Dead Air Studios. It’s really exciting to finally share it with you all. Once the tape is out you can buy it over at Puzzle Pieces and even download it for free.

I’m really excited to announce that I’ll be putting out a tape for Boston’s finest Fleabite. It’ll be six songs of fuzzy pop about drinking & exes & cats. This band includes members of Parasol & Tomboy, amongst others. They’ll be hitting the road with another member of the puzzle pieces family, Potty Mouth, in May.

In my long absence from the internet I’ve also added quite a few new distro items here:
Parasol- Not There LP
Hysterics- Can’t I Live? 7”
SaraLee LP
Swearin’- Surfing Strange LP
Guided by Voices tribute 7” (with Screaming Females, Waxahatchee, Swearin’, & Upset)
Downtown Boys CS
Screaming Females/Tenement 7”

And after this weekend, I’ll also put up the new Good Throb LP (they’re touring the East Coast with Priests starting on Saturday!) and some Sister Polygon stuff.

More new rippers

Webstore is back up!

I have been back from the West Coast for over a month now and have finally taken to getting everything back up & running. While I spent most of my time on the West Coast in the woods, I did get a chance to catch Priests, the Courtneys, and Older Women in Portland, and I grabbed some Courtneys 12”s wholesale in Vancouver.

August brought many spectacular shows in Brooklyn including Priests, Downtown Boys, Neonates, & Household. Downtown Boys totally blew me away— one of the more energetic punk performances I’ve seen in a while. Mary of Neonates described them to me as Raoul meets Lucrate Milk. If you have a chance to catch them, do not miss out. I also got to see Tomboy for the first time along with Aye Nako and Priests. Tomboy’s new material is fantastic, and I’ve heard rumors of an upcoming EP, so keep an eye-out for them, and grab their Trashy Tapes cassette here for now.

More new stock will be added to the webstore in the not-so-distant future, but in the meantime, you can get these relatively new releases along with many excellent slighter older ones:

  • Chemical Peel- Bike Thief 7”
  • The Courtneys 12”
  • Neonates CS
  • Joyride! LP
  • Big Eyes- Almost Famous LP
  • White Lung- Two of You 7”

I’m always looking for new queer, POC, & female-fronted punk to add to the puzzle pieces distro (& label) so get in touch at puzzlepiecesrecords[at]gmail[dot]com if you are in a band or have friends who have a band that I should know about!

Store down temporarily

I’m leaving for a bit! I’ll be traveling all around the Pacific Northwest, so my distro will be closed until the end of July.
